Hi all,

Looking to build a small (ish) quiet gaming system for my living room. It will be connected to 1080p TV mainly general gaming: racing games few new titles e.g. assassins creed, forza 7 and older games

I will be using wireless controller and G29 wheel, want something that will be provide good fps and visual quality.

Around £700-£1000.

I wont be overclocking the system.

This has got me stuck....

That's a healthy budget so you shouldn't have too much trouble. I would advise to go for a sound insulated case and quiet CPU cooler. I transplanted my old i7 920 and 7980 when I replaced it with a new build, into a sound insulated case (OCUK have loads by the looks of it) and replaced the aircooler with a NZXT Kraken AIO watercooler and got myself a fan controller for the case fans. It's absolutely silent and makes a great HTPC and streamer. It's not a great gamer by any means anymore as the guts are pretty long in the tooth now but XCOM2 runs absolutely fine.

As for your system a 1060 or 70 will do you fine for 1080p, my current main gaming PC runs a 1070 and it doesn't miss a beat at 1440p. The latest Intel CPUs have decent bang for buck from what i've seen. You don't need a particularly fancy MB if you're not overclocking.

Don't forget to budget for a wireless keyboard & mouse.

probably get away with the i3 as they are quads now, but the i5 being an hex will be longer lasting and higher turbo and just better in every way..

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,003.57 (includes shipping: £11.70)

or depending on your tv unit if its capable to support a cube then maybe this, smaller version of the 1060, but full size and better psu and a nice compact cube case while saving you some money.
