Hi All

I'm starting to think I want to replace my trusty Dell U2515H 2560x1440 IPS monitor, its still great but I could use in in my office and get something new for my gaming setup, so should I make the jump to ultra wide via the liyama GB3461WQSU-B1 or just move to a high refresh rate monitor like the Dell S2721DGF?

I like the idea of the Dell S2721DGF as I'm happy with my current Dell and its getting good reviews but maybe its not a big enough jump and I should go for the liyama GB3461WQSU-B1 to experience ultra wide?

Mainly gaming really and not sure I will ever keep up with GPU's to make the most of the high refresh rate....

Thanks for any opinions!

P.S...yes my spec in my sig is right....I need a new GPU at least and really a new PC build...

I have the iiyama if that's the curved model! Great monitor... I really like it and my particular example feels a bit like winning the panel lottery. No dead pixels, no bleed. great performance... can't fault it.

As someone who moved to Ultrawide just over a month ago, my personal opinion would be to get the S2721DGFA.

I'm actually in the process of selling my LG Ultrawide as I actually prefer that size.

That's not to say that Ultrawide is not a great experience, because it is! However, 'currently' not many games make the best use of 21:9 and you have to edit INI files to get things to work correctly and even then it can result in a stretched screen or HUD issues. (Flawless Widescreen is a great tool for taking the manual work out of it)

This is mostly for 2+ year old games, and newer games do have much better support but it's still not perfect.

I've actually just purchased the S2721DGFA myself.

What games are you playing?

I've found the vast majority of things I play let me use ultrawide, though that's obviously based on what I play! By older I think more of things like Mass Effects era and older. Like you say Flawless Widescreen fixes many things easily. Ultrawide isn't for competitive gaming but if you want an immersive experience it's fantastic. I wouldn't go back. Infact I went up a little to 3840x1600!

Worst case scenario is you just use a normal ratio and have black bars on the side (and may have to add a custom resolution, once).
