Hello All,
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18341988
danewesley kindly specced me a Llano build which I completed today. The only variation was that I used one of my storage HDs and used the stock cooler (eww I know) to save money and hassle from the Mrs.
Only downer was that the memory appears to be faulty. I'll RMA it but in the interim I've subbed my son 4gb of my RAM, so it's all good.
First impressions of performance are really positive. I'll slap 3D Mark 11 on there tomorrow and do a bench. I can't get near it at the moment as he is playing Lego Universe - all the time.
The UEFI is pretty. Not as nice as my Crosshair V (obviously) but it is a million miles from his old PC.
His old PC was a Pentium 4 hand-me-down from his Grandma and it is just a world of difference. Just going by his Lego game the frame rate is actually playable and very smooth and in a much higher resolution. The old thing couldn't even play flash videos full screen.
It boots quickly, as opposed to having to get up at 4am to wake up the P4 ready for use at 9am.
Browsing etc is just smooth.
I'll post some pics tomorrow if people are interested.
Anyway - long story short - one happy little boy.
Windows Experience index scores are:
CPU: 7.2
Mem: 7.2
Graphics (2d): 3.9
Graphics (3d): 5.8
HDD: 5.6
