Hi there

At present we're with Sky broadband on their connect package as my exchange isn't unbundled yet. I'm usually receiving 8mb however because Sky are providing the service through BT's equipment the throttling at peak times is an absolute joke!

It's getting so farcicle I can now no longer play a Youtube video during peak times and pages are taking ages to load. According to SamKnows my exchange has AOL LLU and Talktalk (CPW) LLU and I'm wondering if anyone can offer any feedback on either of these companies please? I also understand CPW purchased AOL UK though they operate this as a separate company, is the service the same?

I'm usually downloading around 30gb a month and would happily sign up to a contract if I knew the company would provide me with a reliable and usable service!

Im with talktalk and usually get 7 to 7.6 Mbps download and 0.8 to 1.0 Mbps upload at all times. This is on a 8 Mbps service so I do not feel shortchanged. I believe that this is with a 40Gb/month restriction, but I am not sure. I get local, national and international calls and line rental and broadband as a package. They are willing to tweak individual lines to obtain the best bandwidth, this is what I did. I just started another contract with them for 24 months. They also have quite a good user forum. I use my own hardware rather than theirs so cannot really comment on that side.

Thanks for the reply nkata - I take it there's no throttling / traffic shaping at peak times with your service then?

That's my main issue with Sky - the actual broadband service is fine (no drop outs) but the throttled connection at peak times is so frustrating. My OH works for Sky part time at the weekend which entitles us to the free service on all Sky products. However she is starting a new job in December after graduating so rather than actually pay Sky for the ****** service I'd rather pay XYZ Company for a service I can actually use!

Speed Down 7454.36 Kbps ( 7.3 Mbps )
Speed Up 862.51 Kbps ( 0.8 Mbps )

Saturday morning speeds.

I have not noticed throttling at any time, however I do not check regularly as I do not see any issues.
