LLU Speed Estimation

Hi,

I'm going to be moving soon, and the place im looking at is 1.8 miles straight line distance from the exchange. These are the services available (no cable :( although it's on the list for FTTC in 2011 :)):

Code:
    * BT Wholesale ADSL
    * BT Wholesale ADSL Max
    * BT Wholesale SDSL
    * AOL LLU
    * O2 / Be LLU
    * Bulldog LLU
    * TalkTalk (CPW) LLU
    * Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU
    * Orange LLU (Formerly Wanadoo)

If I go with LLU / Be 24mbit (think that's the fastest/unlimited choice?), can anyone give me an estimate of what kind of speeds I could expect at that distance assuming standard line conditions?

Secondly, are there any alternatives to having a BT line with LLU? I'm not going to be using the land line, so maybe there are some inclusive deals I should consider? or forced to use BT?

Thanks a lot.

1.8 miles straight line, so it's probably safe to add an extra mile on to that for line length, you'll probably see 5mb or similar but it's near impossible to give a decent figure without line attenuation details. Have you tried the Samknows postcode checker?

You can try Post Office line rental, or Sky sell it slightly cheaper than BT, but I don't think there's any way of getting it free / heavily discounted (unless you happen to work for BT :p )

Ok thanks, there goes my hopes for > 20mb :( :D

I''ll look into Sky & the Post Office thanks.

What are you getting just now? What are your line stats? Can probably make an educated guess once we know that :)

Haven't moved into the property yet, just signed the rental agreement today. Maybe exchange distance should have been higher on my priorities list :p

Ahhhh ;)

Best bet is probably to throw the post code into the checkers at be/o2/sky to see what they reckon.

I'm looking to move and nowhere makes it onto the short list if it doesn't get decent internet :D Got my priorities straight ;)

I work for a small ISP and our provider is on your available list, so you could if you want let me know your phone number and I can do a line check which tells me the speed you should get.
