LMA 2007 demo on marketplace!

Do you get to actually play the football in this game or is it another one of those games where you buy virtual players and watch the computer have all the fun.

Is it any good, cos i'm seriously considering switching from pro evo to fifa and from what i've read so far fifa 07 is looking very good.

not going to get drawn into the argument

the main gripe you guys have is the ball doesnt react realistically, well the 360 version has been built from the ground up, in previous versions the ball was stuck to the player, now its subjective to new physics

anyhoo im getting both pes and fifa so i get the best of both worlds

I'll have to try out the 360 demo for that when it comes out then - I thought both World Cup games (well, the demos) on the 360 were beyond awful so hopefully they're bringing it back on track...

Couldn't be much worse, however, Fifa 2006 on the Xbox wasn't that bad and it had some excellent features in it!

Ordinarily I would say that is a valid point. Let me explain a little so I don't come accross completely mad.

First of all I have been playing ISS in all its forms since the SNES days and have owned every version of ISS Pro Evolution/Pro Evolution from release. The sheer number of hours i've put in on Pro Evo would easily far outweigh any other game.

That being said, for me there were serious problems with Pro Evo 5, not least the fact that I just couldn't get used to using either the original xbox or the 360 pad for it, i'm just to used to the PS2 pad when playing Pro Evo. That is obviously my problem rather than the developers and I would probably have overlooked that were it not for some subtle, yet significant changes with Pro Evo 5. I wont go into them but I think anybody who has played the last few versions of the game will know what I am talking about. At the moment for me, Pro Evo reached it's peak at 4, closely followed by 2.

Obviously I am hoping Pro Evo 6 is a return to form, but on the off chance it isn't, FIFA 07 is looking like a serious alternative (can't believe I actually said that)

i also agree pes 4 is the best of the bunch, pes 5 was ruined by the tackling system imo

And that's one of the things the developers have already confirmed they're working on. There are meant to be far less stupid little fouls in PES6, something I think everyone will be happy about.

Beyond that, I think PES5 is great. It's definitely a switch in style over previous games, it's much more about passing than ever before. At first I didn't like it, but now I love it. I like the fact you have to really work to dribble past someone (which was too easy at times in previous games), and you really need to work the ball well to create good chances. There are still some niggles with the game (the referees don't play advantage at key moments when they really should), but if all they do is improve the tackling system and update the graphics, I'll be happy. Proper kits and names for every team wouldn't go amiss either.
