If its down to heat then would a glass shelf off the floor make a good place to store it? Plenty of airflow and a lot less dust will be getting to the machine.
It just needs to be kept well ventilated such as not putting the back too close to a wall, next to a radiator or locking it in a TV cupboard. The problem is caused by the circuit board warping due to the heat, as the board warps, even slightly it can break the solder connections on BGA mounted devices such as the CPU and GPU.
