Load up new address in front

At the moment I've a site that has a lot of links to it's American counterpart which open in _blank windows. The concern is that this takes people away from main site, even though the original is in the background.

I've seen a couple of fade out the background mini windows appearing in front of setups, I was wondering if people could recommend any? Are they css? JavaScript? Sorry it's vague but I'm knackered.

you mean like the ones in the link above. scrol down the page to the demos. If so then yes done in javascript and only ever really succesfully done in javscript as far as i know.

that site gives you all you need to know about how to implement them.
