Hi there,

I've had a HTC Desire for around 18 months or maybe more. I'm having a whole host of issues such as -

- Overheating, phone will turn itself off if it does anything cpu intensive and has deleted contacts and messages too.

- App Market "App" has deleted itself, no idea how to get it back and therefore means I cannot download apps.

- Phone itself seems slow and very unreliable.

I want to reset the phone, and I realized this is probably the best thing to do -http://www.knowyourmobile.com/smartphones/htc/htcdesire/desireuserguides/687892/how_to_do_a_factory_reset_on_the_htc_desire.html

But I want to backup my contacts and pictures, how do I do that? I would use HTC Sync, but it doesnt work, at all.

Thanks for anyhelp guys.

Go into Gmail via your PC and see if your contacts are there, if they are then they are backed up and will be restored after you've wiped your phone. For the pics just connect your phone to your pc and copy the pics off.

Contacts should be synced with Google (you have been doing this, right?) and photos will be on your SD card.

Are you sure the App Market has deleted itself, and it's not Play Store now? :p

I'd like to bet good money that you have a new icon called 'Play' that you haven't ever seen before.

Google replaced the Market with the Play store a few weeks ago.
