loads of red dots then black screen.. help!

Hello,

So I was gaming then my the screen started to fill with red lines and dots, followed by black screen then reboot. My computer gets as far as the windows loading screen then when you would expect to see the login box red lines/dots and black screen again.

I figure my gfx card has died BUT when running safe mode all the graphics look fine, the system trys a restore, but when i try to start windows normally same thing again!

Im running win7 64bit enterprise edition. Gfx card is a bfg 8800gts640.

Does anyone have any idea whats going on or how I can fix it! help much appreciated

I suspect it could be it overheating and window "safe mode" isn't causing it to heat up as much.

okay i can get safe mode with networking but there are some artifacts starting to appear, then red lines of dots etc, some blue bits too... im guessing its terminal gfx card?

Im guessing this is fatal gfx card behaviour, i have let it cool and reseated it (there is no dust) anyone know how the rma to BFG works? do i need reciept/box or just the card?
