Hi,

I have a number of users log onto a number of machines on a daily basis. I do not use roaming profiles and so a local profile is created (WIndows XP).

Over the years, I feel the local profiles are getting quite full, with temp files etc, and was wonder if their is a easy way for all temp files to be deleted, without having to go though each user account.

Many thanks

Robert

True, i was thinking of that, but was not going to go that route incase they had customised templates, even though I tell them to save to their home directories on the server!

Any other ideas, but thanks, that might be my only other option!

The problem with profiles, is that temporary files are not stored in one place. They are in the Application Data and User Data folders, which also hold information intergral to the profile.

Deletion may be your only option. If people are supposed to store templates centrally, just warn them its gonna be deleted and it's their responsibility.

Hi,

Thanks for these details :)

What I might do is try this on a few machines and see howe they react! - But hey, I have given them warning :)

Thanks!

You could just do a search for Temp (include hidden folders) Then just delete the folders called temp in the c\documents and settings...blah blah folders. The folder just gets recreated the next time the use logs on anyway. Could delete temp internet files folder as well.. those 2 usually take up most space on a profile.
