Hi all,

I am currently building a retro PC based around windows 98/3dfx etc. I have now got windows 98se loaded on but i have a number of drivers missing.

What would be really handy is if their is an app that scans your PC and identifies what drivers are missing and allows you to download them, the main issue is based around the motherboard, It doesnt appear to have a motherboard model no printed anywhere. any suggestions as i'm downloading drivers but getting nowhere fast.

You could try HWiNFO as that has a DOS version that should detect what everything is. Not sure the 32-bit Windows version will run on 98, but maybe one of the old version in the archive will.
You could use Rufus to create a bootable pendrive to run the DOS version if it wont run within 98.

Alternatively, apparently Aida64 may still support 98

It will not take you long if your internet speed is good to download this software "DriverPack Solution" This will solve all your driver problems.

I'd lob that old hardware in the bin and use VMware Player (free) to run windows 98. Even virtualised graphics should be way more powerful than your old card.
