Location of XP Icons!? Where is it?

Where is the folder containing the XP Icons, or its location.?

I'm guessing its c:\windows\something something

Yeah, I knew that that was the location, but what I wanted to know is......is it possible to view the icons in a different way to right clicking on an icon and choosing 'customise'

i.e. can you preview them in any way and 'drop' new ones in!?
