I tried many for customers but as they are on XP, I simply use the MS Private Folder App.
I personally on Vista64 use Folderguard (not free), I don't care to hide folders as I'm only one using PC but it hides files which is good if you want to say put an icon inside a folder to make the folder have that picture but do not want the icon inside ruining your list of say Movies.
So I use it for basically tidiness.
