I'm talking myself into buying this and know that it's a complicated game to play.

I've got a Saitek Cyborg joystick, would this be adequate play the game with?

Are there any offical/unoffical mods out there for this? things like new aircraft, maps etc?

Thanks

Lock On Gold uses Starforce by the way. The original Lock On (without Flaming Cliffs add-on) doesn't.

The game is only as complicated as you want it to be. Taking off, shooting at a few duff Migs, and then landing is easy. There are tutorials in the game that show you how to do these things. If you want to take on the whole Soviet Union, at night with no wing man then it's going to get a big harder.

Saitek Cyborg will be fine for most stuff. A throttle would be handy but there's no point spending money of it if you are not that serious about fly simulators.

Don't listen to this man, unless you flew jets for Voyska PVO I wouldn't even think about buying that :p

But in all seriousness, the game is no more complicated than Civ or other games with big manuals. It is a different type of learning curve and the tutorials are actually really good. Just be prepared to spend your first few hours learning instead of blowing things up...

Plus, invest in some new paper and quite a few ink cartridges. The manual is immense, I had to give it it's own folder. :D

Thought all games came with star force anyway? I don't have any ripped games on my PC anyway tbh.

Anyone know when blackshark is coming out aswell?

Whats the performance like on modern hardware?

Last time i tried it, i was using a P4 3Ghz, 2GB ram, Radeon X850 XT PE and it would drop to less than 10fps quite often...:(

@ 1280x1024, high detail, 4xAA.

I've got the demo and ran it on the same system as you with 1 GB RAM and it seemed ok at 1920x1200.

Athlon64 X2 4200+ (2.6GHz)
2GB
512MB 7900GS PCI-e

Runs fully maxed out at 1680x1050 with 8xFSAA, 8xAF and gives back a constant 50fps+.
