Lock on window - need to get it open! D:

Hi all, I live in a shared house where my bedroom windows have this lock on them:

My landlord is completely useless and can't seem to find a key/can't be arsed to find it. So it's down to me - any ideas? It's getting rather toasty in here

Would 150mm long nose pliers do the trick? Looking at the Halfords website I can get a pair for £2.50, and it's just around the corner...
