Hi,

I've done a clean install of windows 10 on my laptop. I have the screen set to go off after 5 minutes which it does however when I move my mouse to re-activate it' just goes straight to my desktop and not the lock screen which isn't good for security. How do I set it so that when my screen goes off based on the timings I select in Power & Sleep I have to enter my pin again to get back on the desktop?

Thanks.

Screen off should really just considered a power-saving option and not really a security option.

If you're in control panel, you can type in the search bar "sign in" which will bring up options for specifying whether to require sign in after resuming from suspend.

If you're not wanting to suspend the machine, the alternative is to set a screensaver. Again, in the control panel search bar, search for "screensaver", and select the result. This will bring up the old style screensaver control panel.

From that you would be able to set the blank screen saver (similar to turning off the monitor) and specifying to display the login screen after waking from the screensaver. That should work.

edit:

just tried that and it worked for me. (although i set it to be the 3d text )

ive activated the same feature via screensaver. thanks

curious to know why on the reinstall its stopped working? it was working fine until yesterday. did the clean install on Thursday. other than that everything else is working fine.
