Lock-ups.

I've had my computer since Christmas and after a couple weeks I got random lock-ups. I was using the on-board graphics until I could afford a decent graphics card. I (at first) thought it was down to my on-board graphics as my temperature never rose too high and they didn't seem to happen at an specific time.

The other day I got a 5750 yet still get lock-ups. I've ran a memtest for a couple cycles, overclocked and unlocked my CPU and that doesn't seem to make a difference so I don't think it's my CPU. I've tried everything in different slots, re-seated everything, booted from a live CD and have still gotten lock ups in a live CD. I've tried all DVI and HDMI ports on my computer but still have lock ups.

I don't know what else to try, my problem seems a lot like:http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18244408

Pictured of my computer, speccy and event log are below:

what do you mean by 'lockups' like lag in input etc or what?

My computer completely stops responding. I can't move my mouse, everything on the screen is frozen, I can't even turn numlock on or off. I then have to turn my computer off by holding the power button.

I ran memtest for a couple hours, I didn't really know how long is recommended but I might get that going tonight and leave it going all night. I'll try FurMark now.

What about audio? Does it continue, stop or repeat in a loop?

Any audio that is playing will just freeze I.E. "BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ"

Will just be heard.

I don't think it's GPU related as it has happened before and after I have got a new one. I just ran FurMark for a while and no crashes, I'll run Prime95 for a little while, then probably do a memtest in the morning.

Im thinking your hard drive is the culprit. This used to happen to me a lot untill I replaced the hard drive. Run a disk check if you havnt already. Another solution, albert slightly risky is to look into updating your BIOS, and chipset drivers.

Just out of interest what PSU is that? Shouldn't really need too much power, but guess that might be an issue, but yeah check your HDD as well

It's an arctic 600w power supply, not the best, but.

I'll do a disk check with "Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows", since it's a western digital, but if it's the hard drive why does it do it with Live CDs?

I've updated my chipset drivers, but don't want to risk updating my BIOS since I've never done that before and if it does freeze while it's updating then that just adds to the problems.

I had a smilar issue with my Corsair HX620 PSU. Turns out the capacitors lose the ability to hold charge over time and it had dropped below the wattage my rig needs.

Might be worth a test with another PSU as changing PSU's sorted it out for me.

PSU or HDD problem. Listen closely to your HDD working and let us know if there are any anomalies.

Just done a quick and extended test on my HDD, it passed the test...

Any one know how to test my PSU without using another. I'd rather not RMA it, if that isn't the problem and I don't have a spare PSU :(

Okay, I think I've solved the problem. I slowly upped the voltage on my RAM 0.050 volts at a time, I have currently gone +0.150 and I haven't had any lock ups since then (~2-3 days). Thanks for the help, and if any thing else happens I'll be sure to post it.
