Hi my friends ex has locked her out of her computer and does not have to password .ooops .
Has asked if i can sort it , but its an OEM and its new and she never made a backup disk of W7 .
Is there anything i can do with my disk of windows 7 that will get it to boot and reinstall , or is it just bricked , and ill tell her to forget windows and give her my ubuntu disk ?
I guess i cant reinstall with my disk , as she would still need her code , which can only be got by getting into her windows in the first place .
Any suggestions please ....

That sound like to much hard work when you can use your Windows 7 DVD get into a
command promt and type.

that will ask you to put a password in
then retype the password

job job password changed login to windows as normal.

Thanks all . ill try the windows disk first , I cant remember though its been a while since iv played with it , how i would get into a command prompt , ill also try and download the others and burn just in case , instead of me going back and forth . , was worried that my windows disk wouldnt work , with the product key and all . being tied to my pc , My first thought was loading my windows , then entering her product key password , but of course to find that ill have to boot her windows to read it .

Press F8 as the computer starts and see if you can boot into command promt from the
menu that will come up, I cant remember if you can or not thinking about it but I would
of thought that you could do.

I didn't bother posting initially since there's a gazillion tools for this about - all of which are unnecessary.

You are not locked out when you loose a windows password. Windows passwords are like using sellotape to secure the laptop lid. It won't stop anyone with even the lowest iq accessing your stuff.

Windows passwords exist to stop someone walking by in the house/office taking a quick look at the pc, that's it. Although with ssds and ubuntu on a flash drive you could get into a pc in 15 seconds these days so it's not much use there anymore either :P

Unless you encrypt your account, if you reset an encrypted account password, you're royally screwed
