Hello, I'm looking for some guidance here ,
I recently bought an AUTEL tablet for vehicle diagnostics.
It was parts of a liquidation of assets from a former car retailer as it went bankrupt.
The tablet was working fine untill somehow I locked myself out of it.
It was just a 4 digit code (which I knew)
Now it's on a password screen.

The password screen is displayed now but I've no idea of the password and your not able to go any further with it you cannot use any functions not even the swipe down menu.
It's never been connected to the Internet as the updates are expired and there is no need to update as it has everything I need.

I can plug it in to my pc and view the files and ect but I'm unable to find anything to set to true or false to take the password back off.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to removing the password without deleting the data on the device?
Thankyou in advance.

https://xdaforums.com/ are a good place to start.

I managed to root and unlock my tablets boot loader from following their guides. However doing so will wipe all the data but will present you with the set up screen upon reboot where you can set a new password. I know this is not what you want.

Its a security thing with Android tablets that when you unlock them they automatically wipe all user data and programmes.

I appreciate the reply brother ,
Is it possible before doing that I can hardly copy the data on the tablet then re-load the files back in
Or would the data be encrypted? I'm not sure about these things I'm kind of a newbie when it comes to this kind of thing
Thanks
Craig

I am a newbie as well, I spent a fortnight trying to get a proper Ubuntu install on my tablet so needed to Unlock and Root it as part of the process which ultimately failed.

I don't know anyway to download the data including apps personly, but perhaps a data recovery service might be able to read directly off the Nand flash?

The way I can access the system files on my tablet was after Rooting and using Termux via SU(Super User) within Android, which does not help you.

ADB Shell is a programme that lets you navigate and execute on the Android devices file system via a terminal, but I think that requires the device to be in Developer Mode, which you cannot access, and you probably need Root as well to do anything usefull.

Connecting to a PC should only let you see internal storage but not the system files (not sure if that includes 3rd party apps), so I don't think you will be able to find the setting within to prompt the Keycode in the files you can see.

https://xdaforums.com/ is your best bet, they have threads for just about every device out there.

I would make a backup of the files that you can see on your computer just in case.

Best of Luck
