Lockerbie bomber to be released

Right decision nobody could ever say he did it, a lot of politics went on, plus he is dieing anyway and isn't it better to show compassion to a terrorists, sends out a signal that we are not that evil after all.

I'd second this. He's not being freed as such, he's being sent home to die. It's not going to be pleasant either.

Which "old system" would that be then?

It's quite obvious to most that this man didn't do the bombing so Of course he should be released, He should Never have been banged up in the first place.
Efforts should be made to bring the Real bombers to justice & no more time should be wasted over this distraction.

A decision that, whatever the outcome, would have angered and pleased people around the world.

I'm sure the judge has made his best decision based on the facts presented.

I certainly wouldn't have like to have made the decision.

The one where murderers and people who are actually proven to be guilty of their crime(s) actually serve out their sentance. Oh and where life meant life. With modern forensics, it should be much more accurate when it comes to proving who is actually guilty.

Oh and bring back the death penalty for the most sadistic *****!

But people who haven't studied law etc know so much more about it, didn't you know?

Framed you mean

Modern forensics only really work where the legal system can be trusted not to fabricate some evidence and conceal other facts

Mr Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi, the only man convicted of the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 in December 1988 is to be released, on compassionate grounds, following the withdrawl of his appeal against conviction.

As a result, there will be no discussion in court in relation to serious questions connected with the original conviction.

Good glad to hear it...there was no way in my mind he should have been tried and imprisoned...talk about a serious miscarriage of justice there...should have been thrown out of court...the trial that is.

LOL @ the people saying our justice system is a laughing stock...funny that it was seen as a joke well before this case came to prominence...

Imo he wasn't the bomber anyways, just a fall guy

If anything i'm glad the scots have stuck two fingers up at the US and did what they thought was right

Good plan, fight fire with fire.

"Killing people is bad so we're gonna kill you for it."

:/

Would you want to exsist in a world alongside people who think blowing hundereds of other people up is the right thign to do? I wouldn't. Oh wait....

Framed you mean

We are not the communist Soviet Union. Put your crazy conspiracy theory like thoughts away.

I'm talking about sentances btw. That's what's wrong with our legal system They are too lenient.

Fantastic! Some justice at last for this poor man.

I don't think its showing a lack of backbone on our policing/goverment system tbh.

Would have took some effort to come to that decision, as most people accross the UK will want to rot.

Fortunatly people change, and I hope he enjoys the last of his months a happy man.
