Having a few problems with a new PC which i bought yesterday.
Basically had to buy a new pc, because the other one decided randomly to stop loading into windows.
So i went out and bought -
Intel Pentium D 805
ASUS P5VDC-MX
and 1 Gb of DDR 400 RAM (1 stick)

along with the old components,-
Nvidia Geforce 6600T,
120Gb HDD, 60Gb HDD
Audigy 2 soundcard, DVD drive and 480W Thermaltake PSU.

Im not sure of the repocusions of plugging the 20pin power conector into the 24pin connector on the motherboard, ive also plugged in the 4pin connector as well, as that seems to work, and manages to load up windows fine.
Im getting a 20pin to 24pin connector hopefully tomorrow (will this help?)

Other than that being the problem, i dont know what else to do, ive formatted, and had to repair windows today :/
Before i repaired windows, it would get to the Windows loading screen and then do nothing ;<

I hope ive given enough info.
Thanks for your help.

What sort of lockups are you getting, when do they occur?
What makes you think you can't solve the problem with the old pc?
I mean you can't just buy a new one unless the previous one is very old anyway.

Try sp2004(prime) to test the cpu, use something like speedfan to check temps.
Use rthdribl to test the graphics card, and use nvidia ctrl panel to watch temps. Check the graphics card for dust, check its fan works.
Use prime95 to test the ram.
Google for all those 4 utilities if you need to.

Let me know the results, and if anything fails or starts to cook. Ask if you're not sure if the temps are too high.
