Loft boarding and carpet

I want to board our loft and use it as a play room (not a bedroom) basically store some of my daughters bigger playsets up there such as her lego town and Barbie houses.

As I'm not in a position to convert the loft into an actual room, so would there be any probs putting carpet down on the boards?

You can put carpet in your garage if you like or on the ceiling!

Unless its not going to be flat I am not seeing the issue keeping in mind the weight restriction of not having a proper floor.

Assuming you have a cold roof like here http://www.greenspec.co.uk/images/web/refurb/coldroof/ventilated-loft.png where the insulation is above the ceiling not in between the rafters which would be a warm roof.

Try to not block the ventilation by boarding and carpeting right up to the eaves.

Lofts are damp so anything metal and untreated will condensate and rust.
