In here and out there.
I'm having the loft re-insulated tomorrow and was just wondering which way is the accepted method as my brother mentioned that he had the same company in at his place and they just ran the lengths of insulation 90 degrees to the run of the roof trusses.

As far as I understand it the insulation should follow the gaps in between each truss?

What you od guys reckon?

That's what I did at my dads, purely because it seemed most logical.

If you go at 90 degrees to the trusses I'm assuming that you would go over them, this would make laying boards tricky at a later date and make it difficult to know where you can put your feet.

Why not do it yourself? it's really easy and saves a fair few quid.

Wish I could do it myself, The house is a housing trust property and they just sent a letter asking me to empty the loft ready for them tomorrow.

If they do run it on top of the trusses and leave the old stuff in (totally useless fibreglass nonsense that been in since the place was built)I'll probably pick up a tyvek suit, paper mask, goggles and gloves, bag up the old stuff and re-run the new stuff in the empty spaces between the trusses.

I did have boards up there with all of the family memories and christmas gear up there, I'm damned if I'm going to lose all of that lovely storage space! ;)

Cheers.
