Im trying to find away to log all dissconnects and reconnects to my ISP. Im sure there is a simple way to do this, I have looked in my router settings but cannot see a log file, only how long the connection has been up for.

The router is a Speedtouch 536 V6.

Im having a realy bad time of constant dissconnects and reconnects since changing ISP and I just want a log of it all.
Im sure the router holds a log but I can't see it anywhere, or is there some windows based software that can record this?

Any suggestions welcome OcUK

I'm not familiar with that model but a fair few consumer routers can log to a remote Syslog server.

You can setup Syslog as an application on a PC to simply listen for your router sending log packets every time there is an event. The downside is that you need to have the Syslog PC on all the time.

Thanks, i'll read more into that via google.

I have found my event log in my router but it is always empty, I have tried telnet into my router (new one on me) but I have no idea where/if there even is a log being kept.

It's getting pretty crazy keep dc'ing every few mins, killing online gaming. I always had a rock solid connection as I'm only about 300M from the exchange, but since changing ISP it's all gone to hell. Guess Zen has cursed me for leaving them :(

I have telnet'ed into the router and enabled the logging, also set the time and date, but when I go to speedtouch.lan the event log is always empty.

I did look into the windows based logging software but seems masively overkill for my needs, also massively complecated. I could'nt figure out my routers hostname, and I would rather not leave the PC on all the time. If anyone can link to some very basic logging software I would give it a try.
