Hi there

For the past couple of days when I am restarting my P.C., it boots into the Windows screen then goes blank after that and nothing else happens. I thought it might have had something to do with software so I formatted the p.c. but it still keeps doing it. Operating system is Winx64 bit, graphics card is 7800gtx, motherboard is A8N-SLI series - anyone know what the problem might be?

cheers

I have a similar problem at the mo. When you say it gets to the windows screen and crashes do you actually see the windows logo etc? I have a similar setup but i havent tried formatting yet. I'll try retrieve some data first. Ordered a new hd as well so that will hopefully fix the problem.

Its hard to say what it could be, does it happen everytime you boot?

My first guess would be ram. if you have multiple modules, try running each on individually, also try blowing out any dust from the ram slots. If it happens with each module individually try to get hold of someone elses ram to try

lol, probably no help but I was getting this problem and it turned out there was a loose cable at the back of my case that was doing it :p

obvious question but did you install new hardware recently.

Also check your connections inside did you move your pc or disconnect it recently.

Have you tried booting in Safe Mode? If it still won't boot, try booting with one stick of ram at a time.

It doesn't sound like a hard drive problem tbh.

I think the problem is that when I have got just a single hard drive in with windows on it, it boots fine but when I add my 500gb it just boots and hangs there on the boot up screen - its blank.
I can plug in my hard drive when the operating system is on
