Logging onto other PC needs password

hi guys

finally set up the gigabit network between my 2 pcs - 2nd pc has cable to router (100mb) from the onboard lan and gigabit to my main pc using a netgear GA620T and it all works fine, getting about 25MB/sec (think thats megabytes not bits)

when i try and browse files on my main pc from the 2nd one it works fine, but when i try it the other way round i get prompted for a password :confused:

i havent got a clue why cos the user account on the 2nd pc doesnt have a password

Check permissions on the drives, files or folders your sharing (properties)

You need to add a user with the same name as the user on the other PC and then give it administrator rights. Then when that screen comes up it'll be Smiley2\newuser and enter the password you set for that user. Because you only have one user set up and they are the sole administrator it defaults to guest. Which is pointless as it's got no rights to files.

Have you run the network setup wizard on each computer and enabled file/printer sharing?
