Evening. Our Logik L814WM16 washing machine has recently started blowing fuses and tripping the breaker even if it isn't running a cycle. I only have to actually turn it on then a few minutes later "POP". It about 4 years old. Is it destined for the scrap heap or is it easy to diagnose? Thanks

I'd change the mains filter before chucking it. Costs less than a tenner and is easy to change. Well, it was cheap and easy on my drier, and I'd imagine it would be similar for a washer -same symptoms as you describe here

Did you have the same problem with the dryer?
Yeah, just tripping the RCD after being on for a few seconds, or a couple of minutes, or sometimes instantly. And that was even when just switched on at the mains, but off on the big button at the front of the dryer.

The top of the mains filter was actually melted. Seems to be topped off with some sort of wax, or soft ish plastic and it had turned to a sticky mess.

Had a look inside and all the wiring and filter look ok. Could be an internal problem I suppose? Might have a look tonsee if I can pick one up cheape

Just received the replacement EMI filter today (from another machine) still the same problem :-(
