Logitech C920 webcam questions

Has anyone used one of these webcams before? Would you recommend it? What MP does it record in? I am looking for a camera that will allow me to record video and audio directly onto the storage on my laptop (rather than any storage on the webcam) and was wondering if this webcam would be suitable? Do I need any particular software/app on my laptop to be able to record video or do I just plug the webcam into one of the USB ports and it will automatically record? Can I use an external USB mic instead of the microphones on the webcam?

I have one - it says 1080p on the front of it, I assume that's what it does but I haven't checked it. I use it for video calls and it's good enough - depends on how good you want the quality to be. You should be able to use a different microphone; the one on the webcam is fine for video calls but won't cut it if you want a proper video.

Thanks. I think if I use something like OBS or Logi Capture (which I think is the Logitech software for recording) I might be able to record directly onto the laptop. And yeah, I think I would need the separate mic for the videos rather than the mic on the webcam..
