Hi, I have a MX1000 mouse and would every much like to keep that as it is, I do however intend on buying anew keyboard, my mediaboard elite has lost its new feel on keystrokes which leads to tpyos :(

What I wanted to know was, if I get this will I have to use the bundled mouse or can I ditch the mouse and just use the keyboard on its own?

I know the keyboard has it's own xmit/rec unit as does the mx1000, reckon they will both run along like friends ?

Cheers!

i just bought the S510 a few days ago and also have an mx1000. dont plan to use the included mouse so will dump that off as a spare.

side note - the right hand mouse button started going weird a few weeks ago.

i emailed logitech and now have a replacement on the way to me via UPS :D - only need to cut the end off the old one and send it to them and alls done - yay :)

that support made buying their hardware a lot easier

logitech rma does indeed rock :) I usually get a new keyboard off them every 2 years if I intend on keeping the model!

Already had 2 mx1000's after the feet died on them!

I got the board today, installed uBer options mod for setpoint to allow all buttons to be customised instead of just the default 3 and BAM!

I love this board now, very nice to type with!

Glad people have good things to say about it.
Ordered the S510 a few days ago and just saw this post. So seems it's a good purchase!

Can anyone tell me what kind of battery life to expect ? I can't seem to find info on this anywhere! I did find the MX3000 cordless desktop however has a mouse life of 6 months and keyboard life of 18 months - considering the transmitter and keyboard are essentially the same (keyboard layout is different of course) Should I assume that the battery life will be similar? The MX3000 KB uses 2x AA though so I guess it won't be the same? maybe 1yr~ ?

i got the s510 meida remote set. battery life isnt as long as as some of the best, but remember it uses two triple a's, not AA's like other sets. with that said, on some decent rechargable's its still getting on for 6 months at a guess. ive only replaced my batteries once in the keyboard since i bought it, and they were the original non-rechargables that come with it.

in all, battery life is very good. the mouse is crap (as you can tell by looking at the pics, let alone using it) so i bought a wired mx518 to replace it. works wonderfully, and i can still use the wireless when im not at my desk:)

it's a great keyboard and as said, very nice to type on.

6 months is plenty time tbh :D I'll just buy a 4 pack of Duracell ultras or something which should last for ages and ages!

finally got my set this morning and it is sooooo much better than the cheap carp i had before!

it feels so much nicer and it works without having the IR receiver within a foot of thge keyboard  :D

i'm not using the mouse that came with it but the new mx1000 they sent me under warranty. will keep this mouse as an emergency backup tho

I took apart the bundled mouse to see how it ticks, turns out it's quite advanced under the cheap shell :p

ok, 1 problem with my logi keyb. how in the name of god do you get the F5 key to just refresh as normal? its not in the menu for their software as far as i can see.

and default task option just makes it default which is 'undo'. there is no simple 'leave my f5 key as it is you stupid program' option

it does, have you triede it ?

The undo etc etc are the "mode" options that you get in addition to the normal f1-f12 keys after pressing the [F]Mode key.

or at least it is here :)

ahhh, see what you mean. thank you. sorted now :D

now just need to sort out how to get the back and forward buttons working in firefox again. they work fine in explorer but not in a browser???
