Logitech Freedom 2.4 Joystick issues

Ive just received a freedom joystick but it is not connecting up. I have new batteries in it and have loaded the drivers as per the instructions, but it says to press any key and the light will go orange whilst looking for a connection, which it does, but it says it should go green but it just goes out. There are no other wireless devices in the area.

Any help would be great

anyone got this joystick? There is a button on the front of the receiver but it doesnt seem to do anything.
