i have been hearing a few people say that the built in usb hub is pretty useless as it isnt powered, i just want to know if i could run a 360 gamepad through it without any problems?

My Xbox pad works fine, but just so you know its the Logitech Chillstream and not the official pad. Dont think that should matter.

i have a G11 (didn't like the red/orange lights or the pointless screen!) good old wiki says they are only USB 1.1 on the G15, just like the G11.

I personally can't see why you would spend almost twice as much for a little LCD display thats situated kind of out the way and somewhat gimmicky, get less macros, and horrible orange lights.

Also from logitech forums:

The G15 Gaming Keyboard has two port USB hubs. This allows you to conveniently plug in two USB devices into the keyboard. This hub is unpowered. The hub will provide up to 100mA of power to each device as opposed to a powered hub which provides 500mA.
If you connect a device that draws more than 100mA, Windows will display a message stating "USB hub power exceeded" and the device will not function. To remedy this simply disconnect the device from the hub and only connect devices that draw 100mA or less.
The types of devices that usually draw less than 100mA would be mice, headsets, or non-vibration feedback game controllers.

which answers your Q :p

thanks for all the info :) i didnt realise the g11 had more macro buttons and i was under the impression that i could change the colour of the g15 lights, after checking again tho it seems i was wrong :p looks like ill be getting a g11 instead as the screen would only be a novelty and something extra that could go wrong

I have a MX518 and it is powered through the G15 USB hub no problem at all.

However a USB powered HDD does struggle.

well the g11 just arrived and im happy with it :) it will take a little getting used to as i keep reaching around the macro keys with my little finger to try and find tab :p

sadly it wont power my 360 pad tho

my g15 has blue lights. Thankyou :P

Yup so does mine!!

My G15 is rev1, and it's pretty much identical to the G11 except from the flip up screen where the media controls are.. Oh, and it only cost me £20!!! :p

Now the G19, that's a different story, I'd never pay £130 for a keyboard!!!

Original G15's are blue, with a black and white LCD panel, which is handy for World of warcraft, it can show character stats, info about battleground, whos' been whispering you, ammo supply, plenty of good stuff etc.

The G11 is a cut down version of the blue G15. The G15 was revised, has less keys, and an orange LED screen to replace the LCD. It's still a nice keyboard, and takes a little less desk space than the blue G15.

Both are excellent, and as for something extra to go wrong, Logitech have great customer support in general, and if it does go wrong, it wont affect the rest of the keyboard.

While its true the hub isnt powered, it still can supply the standard USB power its enough for my mouse, and my tomtom charges happily from it, as does my iphone. So really the lack of power supply on it is only potentially an issue for say, and external hard disk mebee? Its not like the keyboard has a gazillion ports on it, anyway.
