Logitech G290 and Steam...

Firstly, if this is the wrong forum, please feel free to move the thread. I've just bought a Logitech G290 wheel and pedals to dabble in some racing, in anticipation of F1 2022. When using games downloaded via Game Pass (Forza 5 and Dirt 5), everything works really well, but trying to run Grid 2 which launches through Steam? Nothing.

I've tried to do some troubleshooting searching online, and tried the following:

- Uninstalling G Hub, removing drivers, reinstalling G Hub.
- Going into Steam and making sure all controller types are unchecked (Steam says no controllers are identified at all).
- Checking "Devices and Printers" which shows the G290.
- Going into device manager to check under "Sound, Video and Game Controllers", but no wheel is listed.
- Drinking a bottle of wine, then retesting the above.

Getting a bit frustrated now and wondered if anybody here had come across this issue before. The reassuring bit is that it does work through non-steam games, and I read in places that although Steam itself won't recognise it, the games will. As Grid 2 doesn't, I'm a little reluctant to get any other games this way until I can sort.

Any help massively appreciated!

Righto - I was using grid 2 as I happened to have it on my steam account, so if its game specific I'm less concerned. Didn't realise that it was so old it wouldn't support wheels, I'm sure I've seen other people playing with it.

Might try it with project cars 2, and if it doesn't work with that, look at just getting f1 2022 via ea play, although I'd really rather have it on steam.

I've started messaging with steam support, so will see if there's more joy there. It's odd that steam doesn't see the wheel at all.

With the sale on racing games at the moment, I think your best option is to just pick up Assetto Corsa, or similar on Steam.
Start it up and see what happens. If you do have any problems, just don't troubleshoot too long and you can always grab a refund.

I had come to a very similar conclusion about 2 minutes before seeing your message! Will fire it up and see what happens.

I've run through the setup, reinstalled the logitech software and tried forcing the Assetto Corsa profile. None of which work unfortunately.

I tested other games again after all this and they still worked fine, it is just steam games which is a real shame.

This thread is very old, but might still apply... They suggested unticking all the controller options in Steam settings.

Edit: I see it's already been done!
Steam reinstall maybe?

Thanks for looking, but I've seen that advice in a few places and tried it to no avail. I'll reinstall steam again this evening, but I'm starting to lose hope. Steam support directed me to the big picture discussion group as they won't advise on 3rd party controllers.
