Hi
I bought a Logitech G5 - overall it seems pretty nice

My main (major) gripe with it is the scroll wheel - its nice and quiet going down but VERY noisy goign up.

Is this a fault with mine or are they all like that?

What other mouses can you recommend? The MX1000 is the other choice, BUT, I don't think I will like all the extra buttons - infact all I wnat is a nice button on the side to let me go back through webpages (which is what the G5 offers)

The G5 wheel is definitely clicky...when I moved from a MX518 to a G5 it really annoyed me at first. I'm not sure whether I got used to the clicking or it got less clicky, but it doesn't seem as bad as it was (6 months on).

Hi

I can handle the normal button clicks

I am talking about when I roll the wheel - when I wheel down it is fine but wheeling up is loud :(

i got a g5 mouse yesterday, and the mouse wheel sure is a lot stiffer than any other mouse i've used (microsoft + Razer), but now i've pretty much got used to it. As for clicking mine is pretty much standard for what you would expect from a mouse, only audible if you really listening out for it, tiny bit more of a click scrolling up. Like i said though if your mouse is a lot louder than other mice than perhaps it is a bit faulty.

Sounds like mine is like yours then - clicking sounds are ok - only the scrolling up is noisy - definitley noticeable.

How have you customised your buttons?

same here on my G7

was irritating at first but i got used to it, only remembered it since this thread

using the setpoint software my buttons are all the standard way except for the left and right side scroll which i have set to move back(left) and forward(right) through windows/internet browsers etc...

Is it possible to

1) Turn off the lights? - they will be well annoying at night when I am trying to watch a film)

2) Change the sensitivty buttons to something else?

If you change the scroll wheel to back a page what do you change the side button to?
