Hi guys, i'm having a very annoying problem with my G5, it's occured once or twice in the last few months, but now this afternoon's made my PC unusable. After finally navigating to this webpage... I can finally post my problems.

Every minute or so now, my mouse is not responding, sending nothing, no mouse pointing details, button presses or anything to the PC. No message is coming up - so anyone else had this problem? Had the mouse since last Xmas.

Cheers

This is a wired mouse correct? I ask because I had a similar problem with a G7 which is the wireless version of the same mouse. I never discovered the cause, in the end I returned it to the retailer (a competitor) and they replaced it with another G7 which (so far) has been fine.

I would suggest trying the mouse in another (ideally several if possible) PCs to make sure it IS the mouse and not your computer. Also check you have latest drivers etc.

If it continues contact the retailer.

If it is a wireless mouse then I'll tell you a story about my logitech MX1000 wireless mouse.

I had had my mouse for a good 5 months when it started to miss clicks, stop moving and going in a jerky like motion. I couldn't find the source of the problem.

I tried resetting it on both the dock and mouse, turning it off and on but nothing seemed to work and it was only every now and then and never continious.

Well, after someone suggesting it could be interference from another device, I set about to find this intruding device. I started with new things such as one of those portable 14" tv's and the remote. It wasn't that, but it turned out to be my old phone a samsung C100. It only happened when it was charging or if i put the phone right up next to it when it wasn't so that explained the inconsistancy of the interference.

My new phone is fine and doesn't interfere at all and this may be the case, or it could just be dodgy...

I tested my faulty G7 in several different locations attached to various PCs (including an Apple notebook) and it exhibited the same behaviour each time. Every 10 minutes or so the mouse pointer would freeze for a few seconds. It was really annoying. It was fine when I first got it, this fault appeared after about 6 months of use.

I have had lots of problems with wireless devices, I went through threee microsoft wireless mice in the space of a couple of weeks, each one failing completely within a few days.

Have you tried installing the latest firmware (v1.1) from the Logitech website?

tried in a diff usb port?

is it pluged into the pc mobo or a riser card? or poss your monitor?

If so change it to a usb port which is fixed to the mobo.

Check your bios usb settings also.

checked it in various USB ports. Now just using in a different PC - been fine so far. havent installed SetPoint on this one though...

So hellishly annoying.

Update: I ran RivaTuner and the instant that started, the mouse began to cut out.. perhaps it's interfering?

Send it back if its new. Or you could just use another mouse for the time being. My mouse is just a standard laser one and has always worked fine, you can pick one up for like £5-£10 if you don't have one lying around.

Exited Riva Tuner, nothing has happened since... Must be something that it is monitoring is interfering with the signal. The mouse is from last December, but im not sure what warranty it is.

yes recently i remember about a similar prob whereby the reciever was near the monitor and the mouse kept cutting out....

most probably not. More likely it is interfering with the usb polling of the mouse which is what's causing the stuttering:)

I also have experienced G5 problems (wired mouse), when playing games for long periods of times it becomes un-responsive ect and delays  sounds like there is something wrong with the mice by the replies in this thread.

Did you get anywhere with solving this? My wife bought me the g7 limited edition one for xmas, was the best thing since it rained cpu's until it decided to cut out in games. Seems to be the same kinda thing that has been decribed in this thread, although mine only seems to be in games.....
Have added some of the games that i play to the games list in the mouse software, not hopeful that will work though.
