Logitech G500 middle mouse button

I just purchased a new Logitech G500 mouse from OcUK and I think its broken.

The middle mouse button freewheels, and if I press and hold the scroll wheel mode shift button I can feel the middle mouse button go into a click mode. However as soon as I release the shift mode button it goes back to freewheeling.

Am I right in thinking this shift mode button should be an on/off type affair and I shouldn't need to hold it down to get the click mode? It definitely wont stay in the click mode permanently...

It does sound as if yours is broken, should definitely be an on/off type of switching between click and smooth scrolling.

Yes, it is an on/off switch. Luckily Logitech customer support is very good.
