Logitech G500.. what to replace it with?

So I bought that g500 mouse 3years ago.. its out of warranty now and in need of a replacement.

However I see ocuk don't stock logitech and good on them loigitech attitude and pricing suck.

Still as one to usually always use logitech for mice due to solid build quality.. though they definitely cheaped out on the internal parts as the g500 had an annoy high pitch sound when the mouse was stationary (I really should have sent it back to them when under warranty) but it was overall a really good mouse.

Can anyone recommend a similar mouse?

The G500 was the nail in the coffin for me, it started double clicking and searching around it was a common problem with it, my previous mice before that was also from Logitech and they lasted much longer.

I replaced it with the Corsair M65 and have been really happy with it, great build quality and the weight system is more flexible than Logietch's one which made it feel more right for my style.

As mentioned in a thread below, I took delivery of a G502 yesterday. Brilliant bit of kit after my Performance MX started to give me a few skipping/jitter issues in games. Basically I wanted something to come close to the MX518 in performance and the 502 with its new sensor exceeds that.

Great mouse tbh if you can get used to the shape and button placement.

Why they have to make such ugly looking mice these days :)

I just feel like corsair price them selves up when some of there products don't really fit in the same league as logitech. Case in the point the Corsair M65 and G502, they both similar priced but at the price M65 is at it just doesn't appeal compared to the other neither are really worth ~£70 to me. And I do want to get away from Logitech but feel like the competition aren't really providing much appeal.

I like the style of the Roccat Kova+ ultra light, good shape clean and simple, not so big on the indented branding on the top, but then i compare it to my g500, more buttons, weighting, and its not got anywhere close to the features, also no idea on the software customization side. but its pricing seems alright, over £40 for a mouse and this better be good one.

M65 just doesn't have as much useful features like extra buttons, either. Colored lighting on a mouse doesn't really appeal to me more like gimmick, prefer manufacturer get light color for the mouse done right to fit the style themselves, adjustable color lighting on peripherals to me only makes sense on the keyboard backlighting not so much mice. Also the look of it doesn't look solid, like if were to squeeze the sides really tight I don't want to hear anything like the noise of plastic squeaking.

The G502 does look pretty good in terms of features, and it fits in the same line of mice I've got before G5, G500, (G500s might be the next one) However the style and shape are little off putting.. also looks like logitech cheaped out on the materials, always been a fan on the G5, G500 with that solid textured grip around the edges (what is that material like a rubber plastic?)

Maybe if they had a G5000 in production I could wait for, I do prefer that more coarse textured grip that the previous lines had, it looks to much like like shiny plastic now with just some molded grip areas, not to mention the exterior styling in general.

Question is the mouse wheel [mmb] button easy to push down on now?

On the G500 the actual [mmb] is hard as ** Fully star any swearing ** to press down on, so I bind the left tilt scroll wheel to be the [mmb] so its really easy to hit [mmb] with middle finger instead of directly down

Can that still be done on the G502?, I notice it does still have scroll wheel that tilts so I assume so.

Bugger, accidentally lost my original post!

1. The wheel itself is stiffer to actuate than the one on my Performance MX. That said, the G502's switch may need wearing down and the one on my previous mouse is years old and worn in. One problem I keep having is when I depress the thing, I sometimes scroll forwards. This can be an issue in FPS's as I use MMB for Reload's and instead I end up switching weapons :)

2. Yep, just checked the software, and tilt left/right can be remapped to key functions as well as macros. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/120915/tmp/g502.jpg

The textured plastic will wear down I fear with time as this is what happened on my Performance MX to reveal shiny plastic underneath. The best feature is the thumb button - it can be assigned to an xxxx dpi only whilst depressed and when released it can fall back to whatever dpi you use. I use it to temporarily toggle between 3000 & 6400 DPI.

I second the G502. It's slightly smaller and heavier but I found it to be a fairly natural and superior replacement to the G500 (which replaced a G5).

Got a G502 review below, will be sending this garbage back good thing OC doesn't stock there brand I'm done with it now.

Compared to the G500,
-Louder clicking, really annoying loudness for lmb/rmb clicks.
-Louder scroll wheel on notches, doesn't even have rubber.
-Way to many ** Fully star any swearing ** mouse touching feet. g502 has 6 touching feet of varying sizes all over the ** Fully star any swearing **place underneath, g500 had 3 touching feet, not sure what kind of pro gamers those morons at logitech got to test this mouse but they are ** Fully star any swearing ** idiots.
-Still has the **** middle mouse button that is hard to press directly down on.
-The stupid triangle indents along the thumb & other side on that rubber plastic combined with all the shaped indents make for a sticky, slippery and sweaty mouse to hold compared to the g500 rubber side plastic that doesn't have such indents making it much better and doesn't have the cheap sweaty plastic feel on just touching it.. And that is brand new g502 with washed hands, its ** Fully star any swearing ** bad. Compared to the g500 I dunno how anyone can say that crap is an improvement.

The mouse is heavier than the G500 and that is without any of the stupid hex crap weights. Scroll wheel doesn't even have rubber on it anymore compared to g500. This g502 is loud as ****, its basically overpriced rubbish in all ways compared to the g500. I'm done with the Logitech brand, the G must mean ** Potentially offence term removed **** because it is no longer for Gamers.

Using the G502 now and I can easy say its the best mouse I have used to date.

I have used G500 for couple years.. Superb mouse but because of amount used my left click started to stop working
Corsair M65 over a year, one of the best mouse out there my only reason for change was its shape started to hurt my hand.
Roccat for get its name - was good mouse
Razer deathadder - felt like a toy

G502 laser is unreal... I have noticed much better tracking since switching from other mice.. My only real grip with it, is it lift distance..

Same problem, but this g502 isn't better at all, its got 1-2 newer things like dpi shift, but the basics are terrible and its not improvement over g500. HTF can they still get away with such a crap middle button still.

Its all in the laser mate.. the laser is 10x better than the G500

10x better? thats ** Fully star any swearing ** joke, it can barely read the surface if you put some tape over the feat.

INfact the feat themselves are so damn ** Fully star any swearing ** thin I don't even see this mouse having useful mousefeat a year down the line.

Mousetape over the feat lift the mouse barely more than 0.1mm than normal and it becomes completely unable to read mousemat.. that is ****.. how the ** Fully star any swearing ** can this even be considered a gaming mouse. Are they logitch engineers retarded or what.

Really don't get how anyone can say that is mouse better it total downhill crap no idea what logitech are thinking its not only worse than the previous g500 its twice as overpriced.

I have no idea why you having these issue but I know reading reviews from sites like NewEgg or OCUK this mouse getting very good reviews.

This one is a very good read also about the laser. All I can say is I noticed a big difference alone.

i went from g500s to g502 and its the best mouse sensor ive come across, tracks perfect only downside for me is the mouse feet, far to many points of contact and they seem to be low quality .
