Before I went with a Mionix mouse I had two Logtech G500s mice.

The first was a warranty replacement for my G500. It had coil whine so they sent me a second which had the same.

I don't have another pc to check these mice on, would the coil whine be down to my specific hardware? Or down to the mice regardless of which pc they are attached?

Anyone else had experience of this. Only reason I ask is I'd rather sell the mice off to pay for the Mionix but if the problem happens regardless then I'll just bin them.

What do you guys think?

That was best way to describe it. Looking online it seems I'm not alone. Wondering if it's a capacitor as others suggest or unique to certain hardware combos

Mine does the same (although I think the sound is coming more from the motherboard)

I suspect my power supply is the cause as both my Titan's make a horrendous racket when loaded

My current G500s and past G500 had the same issue, high pitched buzz when the mouse is still, and stops when the mouse is in movement. Very strange.

In my case it definitely is due to the mouse itself, as it happens on several different laptops and computers, and it can actually be heard coming from the actual mouse.

i've noticed with some previous setups when I used the scroll wheel on the mouse i could hear some sort of sound coming from psu/motherboard

To be honest I think most of the new high-end Logitech mice whine, some people can hear it, some can't. I've used several, and had several replacements (G500s, MX Performance, MX Anywhere) they all exhibited the whining problem. It's not the PC, not the speakers, not interference, it's the mouse.

I've got the g500s and it appears silent I'll put my ear close to it and have a listen when I come off dialysis later. Could be that the jet engine loud fans are covering up the noise

Only ever noticed it after reading about it 1 year ago, put mouse to your ear quickly and you may hear it if it does have caps that whistle/coils that whine.

You need be quick as it stops as soon as laser turns off due to no surface bellow it.

Some have had a new mouse due to it being bad enough to hear in normal use.

Mine is definitely the mouse and both G500s's I've had new from Logitech had it.

Only happens when stationary. Gave up in the end and initially went with a Mionix mouse which is lovely byt he way, but now settled on a Sensei Wireless

Thats really odd, I just put my ear to my G500 and it deff does make a high pitch sound, odd i never heard that before untill i read this thread, now it's going to bother me untill i get a new mouse lol

yes its a known issue on the G500 especially, I have one myself and it ****es the **** out of me, good thing I use headphones a lot, without headphones and the mouse is not being moved its a audible as hell..

how others cannot hear the high pitched whine is weird logitech must have deaf people to design there products.

last product I get from them ever again though.

I think there was a page where someone had replaced one of the capacitors in the mouse with a higher quality one and the whine stops being an issue.
