Hi, ive been reading around the forum on what is the best wireless mouse to go with, as im thinking of getting one. I heard the G7 is the best to go with.

Id like to know how far the G7 can work from. Somewhere i read 20foot or something? its not that I need that kind of range but I may need a few foot ie. 5/6 (which is further than mum's wireless range),

many thanks

Well seeing as I have a G7 I thought why not try and see what distance I can get;

My front room is 18ft from the computer to the corner of the room and I can stand there and still control the mouse without any issues.

Went out of the front door and stood in the garden lookign through the window (much to neighbours amusement) and the mouse still works fine; would be an approx distance of 25ft.

So I am sure you will have no problems with the range.

It will easily do that sort of range as tested by Simon N although once you start putting obstructions such as walls in the way it won't work as well/at all. One thing I did discover is that they are more robust than I expected, I was trying the same test and dropped mine 4' onto a hard wooden floor and the battery popped out but once I'd replaced that it works fine :o :)

I have one & its works fine while sitting on the sofa which is about 8 feet from the computer desk. Great mouse but the battery doesn't hold much charge

I think thats why they include 2 batteries so that one is always charging. Takes seconds to switch batteries too.

lol, thanks guys. doesnt look like the range with be a problem at all :) thanks Simon N for testing for me

the other thing, is it ok to leave the over battery in the charger? or are you suposed to take it out after a set amount of time?

many thanks again

I leave the battery in until I need it usually or until the green light stops flashing on and off, I doubt it makes much difference. The battery life is fairly decent in that even if I am using my PC more or less all day the battery lasts for a couple of days at least.

Battery life isnt too bad, about 6 hours of constant non stop gaming, using 99% mouse control. (So mouse never in power save mode).

Recharge time of pack 2 hours in 'boost' mode. So the spare pack will always be ready for you by the time the active battery is run down.

The charger comes in 'trickle' charge mode by default, so you need to switch to boost mode if you work the mouse hard. There is no problem using boost mode all the time though, Just make sure that the charger is in one of the PC's USB ports, or else in a high quality powered hub. Boost mode draws extra power from the USB port, and could overload a cheap USB hub.

I run mine off the USB hub on my Dell monitor, on boost mode all the time. Its been no problem.

got mine today, seams to be working well :)

one more q, i dont have to 'switch' off the mouse by the button under it when im not using it? the mouse will go into 'sleep' mode right?
