Just recently my g7 has been freezing every so often for a couple seconds, when your in-game this can be quite annoying. I've had the mouse for about year and half now, do you reckon it's just dying? Or has anyone had similar problems?
Could be a number of things i guess, the lazer sensor on the mouse, something causing slowdown on the OS side of things or the wireless connectivity - thats why i like to keep it wired - i've got a MX518 [5+ yrs] and a G5 [~3yrs] and both still spot on.
I'm not sure how you would diagnose it but connectivity or OS sounds more likely since its not a persistant problem which would probably occur if the lazer sensor was konked.
Maybe someone else can offer some further insight - gl and if you do have to get a new mouse - I definately recommend the G5
I have already bought a new mouse, the Razor Copperhead, as I've just ordered a new system from OcUK, waiting for delivery. I was just wondering if anyone had encountered the same problems.
The mouse and receiver are only a couple centimetres apart, I've tried blowing dust or whatever ouf of the sensor, but to no avail.
Is that the latest one? My version of Setpoint is apparantly 3.1.116 and every so often will check for an upgrade but never seems to find one. My G7 works fine though so I'm not too upset if it doesn't find a newer version.
Do you use a mousemat? If you don't then it might be worth trying one, if you do then try without just in case it has suddenly picked up an allergy to it.
Yea 4.40 is the latest version available. I use the Steel Series Gaming Pad, I've tried without the mat and after a few hours, it did freeze up again. So it hasn't suddenly developed a mouse-pad allergy.
I'm not sure but I think it is the latest one - I will double check. I've tried it on a couple of Windows PCs and it's the same on both. I also have a bootloader program that detects a USB mouse and the G7 stalls with that so I don't believe it's the Windows driver.
I had sort of forgotten about it and lived with it (don't play games much anymore) but I might try and have another go and see if it can be fixed although I'm convinced it is the mouse itself. It worked fine for some time though.
I suppose it could be some strange interaction with the motherboard - Both mine are Gigabyte DS3Rs.
