Meh - I appear to have placed this in the wrong forum. Could a mod move it to General Hardware, please? :P

Thought I'd slap this on here, as there's some useful info for people thinking of taking the £80 plunge.

Had a short session with this bad boy and a new Goliathus Control pad. The mouse is great, although the shape is a huge change from the G9 - anyone who has made the switch from MX5**/G5 to the G9 will know what I mean.

The shape of the mouse requires a full-palm grip, as opposed to the fingertip grip of the G9, at least until you get used to the shape. Kinda the same problem I had with the MX1000 (ewwww). I have pretty large hands too, which causes my pinkie to drag on the mouse mat if I don't hold the mouse properly. Also, if you have any hope of using all the buttons comfortably, holding the whole mouse is an absolute must.

These are major issues really, just the effects of having used the G9 for so long. Users of the MX5**/G5 should be fine.

The mouse is also much heavier than an emptied G5/G9, which means you're gonna need a fairly new mouse mat or some other fast surface - not an old decrepid func pad like mine!

Roll on the Goliathus; Unfortunately the Goliathus Control feels like rubber, causing sweaty palms, and the ridges of the mat dig into the heel of my hand after using a fine-weave cloth mat for so long. Worst of all is the pinkie-dragging - it feels like there's crumbs all over the mat, which is even more distracting than the texture.

However, even with the mouse being heavier than what I'm used to, there is absolutely no drag whatsoever when the mouse is in wireless mode. Perfect.

Once I get my grip sorted, and stop resting my heel on the mat, this combo will be near-perfect. In the meantime, can anyone recommend a good cloth mat, something similar to the func/qpad of old?

I have that mat, the massive one... it's good but is still a bitch for crumbs.

I lose so many firefights because I get a crumb under my little finger and it bothers me so I wiggle my little finger and then lose control of the mouse a little - just enough to get killed.
