Logitech Harmony Touch (lastest Harmony remote)

Yeah I had a look at that. I want to get a smart remote at some point to control everything and was waiting to see if Logitech were going to update the line... turns out they were.

I need that remote in my life, Bet it's pricey though :/

looks pretty **** to be honest. I use the harmony one now and there is no way I would downgrade to less buttons for a slightly bigger touch screen. I know if im flicking through channels etc , recording, deleting yadda yadda that id prefer buttons than there clunky touch screen anyday.

and they still havent added wifi so you could use it for xbmc or ps3 etc.

It's not just less buttons, they've removed the number pad, Chapter previous/next, help and activities and added DVR and the 4 colour buttons. They've also got what looks like a more advanced screen as it features gestures, has a third column for the grid layout and allows you to modify it on the fly without relying on the Harmony software.

So I think the real question you have to ask is do you care about your number pad? Speaking personally I rarely need the number pad so this remote looks pretty good to me and I don't understand the complaints, if you don't like it they have 2 other models in their range which have more hardware buttons, pick the one that suits you.

What bugs me (not that anyone's asking) is why the reviews all seem to suck? Are Logitech just giving out review units to places that give a nice easy review or what? I'm not closer to seeing if this remote fixes some of the annoyances with the Harmony one like the reset/delay on removing from the charging cradle, battery life etc.

Personally, having come from a Pronto to the Harmony remotes, the more physical buttons the better, having to continuously look at a touch screen makes a remote much less useable!

I would like one but tbh £150 on a TV remote is a bit overkill for me. Are there any apps with hardware that are actually any good? I am looking at somehting like this also since adding my 5.1 system to my AV setup I now have 5 individual remotes.

You could get the Harmony one this unit replaces, it's been knocked down to £80 in most places to clear existing stock.

I would just go for a cheaper harmony if your not worried about the touch screen. I have a 650 which I got for around £45 I believe and that handles upto 5 devices and activities. Should cover all you need without breaking the bank?
