Any of you guys using a Harmony with XMBC, having any trouble with the cursor skipping multiple items?

I've seen people complain about delay, that it's slow to respond. That I don't mind, but it's bloody annoying that when trying to navigate, it skips a bunch of films or songs, or if I go into a menu, it will go back to the previous menu, as if I pressed the button twice.

I've got a 600, and it behaves perfectly well with Windows Media Center.

I wondered if it was to do with the remote sending out repeat signals, but it doesn't do that with WMC, unless XBMC has some setting which means it is using repeat signals?

I had something simliar with my 555 with one of my components (can't remember which off the top of my head) and I ended up having to delve into the settings within the harmony setup software, there was an area for adjusting the repeat or something like that if the item was not reacting all the time or if it was reacting to commands to much.

Annoyingly I can't remember exactly where in the softwsre it was cos it was ages ago but you should be able to find it in the trouble shooting.

May I ask, what infrared receiver you are using? I'm looking to getmyself one for exactly the same, controlling xbmc with my harmony!

I've got a HP compatible RC6 one. I got it off the famous auction site. ;)

They can be bought with a remote more commonly, than without. Getting one with a remote, works out only a few £ more.

The receiver works with Microsoft's Media Center remote, which uses RC6. Logitech Harmony's have a profile for Media Centre remote, so thus work with any receiver that can accept a MCE remote.

Some remotes mimic keyboard input. The receivers for those are no good, as they are not RC6 compatible.

Ironically, since I created this thread, the damn thing behaved. I assuming it's going to be hit and miss, as I didn't change anything. Every other time, it has skipped multiple selections.

Logitech changed their software not so long back. I've seen people mention the repeat settings, but I can't find it anywhere with their new online software.

My knowledge must have fixed it... ;)

If I get a chance this evening (8 week old baby rather limits my time for such things...) I shall ahve a look and see if I can find where the settings I mentioned were. I remember it being really tucked away somewhere and hard to find when I wanted it another time.

It maybe that the updated software has removed it but I'll have a look.

Cheers for the info re the receiver, I shall have a look and see what I can get.

Nice find. I did have a look at a few websites before, but I didn't comes across that one.

I've just tried it again today, and it seems to be behaving again. Most strange.

I'm going to have a play now, see if I can find the said options. I notice that the thread is dated Feb 8th 2012. That is certainly after the software update, which was sometime in 2011. So it must be there somewhere.

remotecentral is a great site for all things remote control related, I used to frequent it back in the days when I was regularly using my Philips Pronto which while way more powerful and customisable than my Harmony but way harder to programme!!!

Hope you find the options mentioned, think it was buied like that before so hopefully it'll still be there, as you say the thread is pretty new so fingers crossed!!

I downloaded the software, which was used previously, until Logitech introduced the new website based software. I set that up, and the options for delay and repeat, were fairly easy to find.

I can't find these options with the new software, so I assume Logitech removed them, or buried them so they can't be found without specific instructions.

I think the guys who posted in that thread, are still using the old software. Which still works fine.

I didn't realise it still worked. I thought Logitech just replaced it with the new online based software, and that was that.

Well if the remote keeps behaving itself, then I've no need to alter the repeat settings. If it does start to play up, for whatever reason, I'll have to use the older software, see if altering the settings makes a difference.

The new online software is much easier and nicer to use, shame.
