Logitech Illuminated Keyboard - key ghosting problems still?

My brother would like a keyboard for Christamas - he likes the look of Logitech Illuminated.

He plays FPS games and on reading user reviews i've come across countless entries about 'key ghosting issues' i.e. the W, Shift and Space key cannot function at the same time.

Does anyone know if this is still a problem - has it been fixed with later releases/revisions and if it has which revision should i be looking out for?

Still awaiting a reply form logitech customer support (been 5 days i may need to re-submit my query) - so if anyone has any recent user experience with the latest keyboard revision it would be appreciated.

EDIT: If a mod feels this would be better suited in the GD forum (i couldn't decide) please feel free to move thread - thanks.

I have the K800, the wireless version.

works fine for me :)

Do you have a combination I can try?

Mine is rather old though. I have no issues, at least with any combinations of space, w, s, a, d, s, ctrl, shift.

I have an executable / source code that checks key ghosting.

Thanks for the reply - how old is your keyboard/revision?

The reason i ask is that it seems to be effecting later revisions (from further reading) - what i can't work out is if Logotech have released a more recent revision (last couple of months) that's solved the glitch that they seem to have introduced late last year/early this year.

Lots of conflicting info on the web but i get the feelings it's because ppl are commenting on different revisions.

Confused... :)

Sorry I missed your post (see my above reply to cleeecooo).

Appreciate the offer of testing - however i think you may have noticed the problem if you had it but i would be grateful for any info you have (results and keyboard revision)

As mentioned above it seems to be effecting relatively new releases although i can't pinpoint which. And i'm hoping there's a new release that will have cured the problem.

As fas as i'm aware it's when users are pressing 'shift, W and space at the same time' - or even just shift and w or w and space (i think).

I have an executable / source code that checks key ghosting.

Is that a free app?

Excellent, sounds promising - could you tell me the revision/code of your keyboard please?

Just in case you have an older revison - or hopefully that Logitech have fixed the problem with new revisions.

(That or there are just a few erroneous boards out there...)

Where do i find that?

It may not have one - but if it has i was hoping it would have some kind of revison/code underneath the keyboard.

I'm trying to google to see which codes would be relevent as i don't want you inadvertently giving out any codes that would effect your guarantee if someone else read them (not sure it would but i don't want to risk your warranty).

If anyone know logitechs coding system on their keyboards - please feel free to step in...

Treat him to a QPAD MK80 with black keys here I've just got one to replace my G11 and its awesome, little bit more but well worth it

Funky keyboard, but, unfortunately, for my little brother I’m not spending £90 on his Xmas present. I’m already his local PC repairs/parts charity - I’ve already purchased a 560Ti so that he could have my 460 as he needed a new card format for his new MB (he’s moving house soon so money is a novelty at the moment).

And also, partly because my son discovered Skylanders at the 11th hour (we had already bought all his presents) and we’ve foolishly succumbed to his very unsubtle and frequent hints. But he’s going to be so excited; especially as he wont expect it once he’s opened all his other presents… :D But, we now have to get another gift/s for our little girl to make things fair – it's a very complicated business this Santa stuff.

I do like the look of the MK80 though – especially the mechanical aspect as they’re very satisfying to use– very funky. Did you get this with your new build?

Speaking of new builds I’ve just had a quick look at your project – it looks fantastic. I’ll do a post later tonight/tomorrow as I have a couple questions – but great job!

P.S. Managed to fix sig as well, just for you ;)

The forum equilibrium has at last been balanced – who knew it required seven pairs of DDs. (thanks :))

Plec, doesn't have a revision code :(

No worries cleeecooo - thanks for taking the trouble to look, appreciated.

The fact that yours is only a month old makes me think that the problem may have been revised out - even though older versions (pre- 2010) never had the problem. Logitech seem to have inadvertently introduced the niggle with a later release - but it may not have effected all boards. (even their forum replies are ambiguous.)

Here's a link to the logitech forum discussing it - link.
