..anyone have one? I'm seriously considering getting an illuminated keyboard for night time use. I currently have a Logitech Wave and love it, but I find myself stabbing at buttons in the dark hoping I'm hitting the right key.

Is the Illuminated comfortable to use? And how bright are the keys?

I suppose it would be cheaper to become 'pr0' at touch typing, but meh :D

I have the G15 which is backlit in blue and its awesome in the dark...

And my Alienware M15X has fully backlit keys as well...

Awesome if you're a vampire :D

I just got rid of my Wave keyboard and got the Logitech G11 from OcUK. It looks more silver on the images online, but its really more grey. Really worth the upgrade though, the keys are quieter, they glow blue when I want them too and feels really well built. I can assure you though, for the first 2-3days you will be hitting the Gkeys instead of other keys as its weird them being there.

Yup, get the g11. It is loads cheaper and has most of the functionality of the g15

I have the Illuminated Keyboard. I really like it, but it's expensive. The feel is great (short key travel), in the same vein as Apple keyboards. It's a scissor switch keyboard, with very good illumination and looks the part. It sits pretty flat on the desk and that part takes some getting use to.

I'd recommend a G11 instead, if you just want a good keyboard with illumination, with nothing too fancy.

i have the g11 and its great in the dark, not too bright that your desk will light up but not too dark eather also you can ajust the brightness and its only £30 great deal!

Thanks for all the replies guys :)

I think this is what draws me towards the Illuminated. It just looks really smart, ad well as the functionality I need.

Thanks for pointing out the G11, I didn't realise it was such a bargain on OcUK! :D

Saitek Eclipse 2 .... three colours blue (default) red and purple with brightness adjustment
This tbh, i have one of theese and a logitech G15 rev 1, prefer the simplicity and smaller size of the eclipse 2, and the iluminated keys are a lot brighter than my G15.

I have had the Illuminated Keyboard since Christmas and it's the best keyboard I have owned so far.
The keyboard is very thin but is great build quality and feels solid (It weighs more than it looks). The keys are very laptop like but with a bit more travel and very quiet, I now prefer these types of keys.

The backlight is also very good, during the day you can still see the keys as if they were printed and at night the backlight makes them easy to see. It looks great with clean white light and the brightness is consistent across the whole keyboard so no dim patches.

It doesn't have many features or media keys but I don't use them, it has Mute, volume up, volume down and a brightness button which cycles through different brightness settings.

I haven't really tried the other Logitech gaming keyboards so I can't really compare. I'm not a fan of the different coloured lights and they have buttons that I probably wouldn't use.

This keyboard is clean and simple with excellent build quality albeit a little expensive (Seems as though the price has gone up!).

Lol, should've put this on the product review :)

I have used illuminated for years as I only watch the PC on my projector and its as dark as the Batcave in here.

I now use the G11 because it was cheap and good value here on OC. The week before I bought this, I bought the Razer Lycos which is the brightest keyboard to date and has an excellent feel - much better than the G11 IMO. Previous to that I have always had Saitek keyboards which are very well built, but less bright and rather heavy.

If you want the ultimate in bling, then you should look for the Luxeed raMa, which I suggested to OC to stock as I am sure they would sell well. Look on utube for the vid which shows the sound to light. I am unable to post a link as they are currently being stocked by competitors. They are rather amasing

+1 for G11 and Illuminated keys. I didn't think it'd make much difference when typing in the dark, but it really does. It is a bit too huge though -_-

I have one for the PC and another for the telly over HDMI - love 'em :)

You pay more than other illuminated choices, but it's far far clearer/sharper than the murky red/blue/purple backlights, with beautiful aesthetics to boot!

Thanks again for all the replies :) it's been most useful!

The Luxeed keyboards are amazing, but I can't justify spending £120+ on a keyboard.

I might take the plunge soon, or wait and see if anyone will buy me a nice keyboard for my birthday in a few weeks. Though I'm not sure anyone will buy me a 'stupid boring keyboard' as a present :D

I've been thinking about it some more, and I think I'm gunna go for a G15 :) it seems more practical than the Illuminated.

One question though - is there a button to set the brightness on it? Can you even change the brightness of the keys?

Thanks :D
