Hey guys,

Bought the Logitech K800 yesterday when I saw it announced, had my eye already on it but the ETA was 22/10 so I was surprised to see it already available.

Anyway I wanted a replacement for my DiNovo Edge because I missed my keypad too much and I didn't like the big chunky charger lying around.

So first impressions for the K800.

Typing on it now, the keys are rounded and quiet. The first upset is the left shift key is tiny :( several times I've went to press it and got '\' instead, this will take a little getting used to.

There is a battery life indicator and an on/off switch on the keyboard itself which is convenient - although after reading the manual on wireless with backlighting on all the time you are only going to get about 10 hours life from it.

To recharge the battery you are given a usb charger, which is not bad if you have a spare usb port close by, otherwise it might as well be a wired keyboard.

I have owned the predecessor to the wireless illuminated keyboard, so far i feel that it is better than its updated wireless model.

the design is quite nice however, there are 2 feet which allow you to tilt it up if you wish, but it is already tilted up slightly by the design, allowing you to "stand it upright for more desk space" which you can do at any time... for what need im not sure, perhaps when you're having a meal or something, but then you're blocking your view of the monitor, so you would need to move it to the side..

I find myself hitting a lot of the wrong keys at times, another thing you will need to get used to :p

i know this isnt a great review, but for £90 I am not that impressed, especially with the battery life when the keys are lit all the time, I like to have illumination even with the lights on lol, even the contoured keys arent really my thing.

So I give this one a 6/10, the wired version gets an 8/10

the design is more modern, they keys are more contoured and more comfortable, feels better when typing. and yes you can use it when its charging :) however a design flaw is you cannot stand it on itself when its charging due to the position of the charge connection, it should have been put on the side and not the top :)

Thanks, I may go for the K800.

Logitech was reporting up to 10 days battery life, you indicate that you were only getting 10 hours correct?

10 hours if you are using the LED at full brightness constantly, but the lighting turns itself off when youre not using it, so its not like 10 hours on countdown, only if you are actually typing for 10 hours :), then again you dont need to have the lights on anyway ;)

im getting more used to it now and i'm liking it more

well im not an FPS guy, but I don't rate this keyboard for gaming, ive tried it with FFXIV, Dead Rising 2, Darksiders and there is something about the design that if you are quickly moving from key to key you can easily hit the wrong one, the left shift is too small for my liking and ive often hit CTRL instead which can be a problem gaming too.

So I wouldnt say its designed for gaming, I think its just designed for looks and your average surfer
