Hi all

Is the MX Revolution really the only Logitech mouse that can auto-switch to free-spin mode when you spin the scroll wheel fast enough? I use this feaute an awful lot, and having taken delivery of a Performance MX today, I have found that it completely lacks this ability, and instead has a button on the mouse itself to engage and disengage the free spinning scroll wheel (which is completely unsuitable for me). Looking at the Logitech website, it appears all their mice with a free spinning scroll wheel now have this same button instead of software control to auto-switch.

Is this really the case? It seems like going backwards to me and leaves me with no choice but to buy another MX Revolution before they completely vanish!

Thanks

Michael.

Confirmed - the MX Revolution really is the only desktop mouse from Logitech that has this 'SmartShift' feature. I am truely amazed! The Performance MX is going straight back as this is a feature I simply can't live without, and I am stocking up on 2 MX Revolutions before they vanish forever.

Yeah not sure why they thought it was a good idea to change it, I'm pretty sure that most people using it were happy with that feature. The 'auto-switch freespin when scrolling fast' and ‘application specific auto-switch’ are both great features and despite being a tad buggy at times don’t think I could live without these days. I really don't see how having to change it manually everytime is a supposed to be an improvement.

Only things I think they did improve is changing the document flip "wheel" to a button and the ability to use it whilst charging. Although for the price of it I think they should have included a dock aswell.

I've just requested an RMA for my Mx Revolution as the microswitch for the left button has gone and is constantly registering single clicks as doubles, which is making it practically unusable. It's nearly 2 years old now, so not sure what to think of that. At least it's still under warranty I guess, although for the price it costs it should last a bit longer than that.

Sorry to bump this up. My Revolution has always been playing up with the battery not charging or it just cutting out unless you give it a tap on the table. So I finally got in contact with logitech and I have a feeling they are sending me the Performance MX. Great a more expensive mouse. But then I watch a Youtube video comparing the two...

So it doesn't have the auto switch spin... -1
It doesn't have the extra wheel which I use for volume and mute - 1
It doesn't have a handy dock - 1
It's not all flush and black - 1

Errr it has a very large application switch button which I will never use? +1

Why is this mouse more expensive and why does it suck? I have a feeling I will have to sell it and but a different mouse. I liked the MX1000. What the hell was wrong with that mouse!
