Hi,

I've just been offered the Logitech MX Revolution free of charge as replacement for my MX1000 by Logitech as the MX1000 is discontinued unfortunately.

Just wondering what it's like compared to the MX1000?

Thanks,
Craig.

i love my mx revolution but its all down to how you want a mouse to feel go to the purple shirt shop and play tbh

I've actually asked them if they can rather replace it with the Logitech G5 now as I've been after a wired mouse. The need to remember to charge this mouse is annoying as I keep forgetting and it runs out in the middle of doing stuff.

The MX Revolution includes a lot of features that I'd never use (e.g. the whole side-wheel and the free scrolling thing), I think the G5 would be perfect once I've re-assigned the top two buttons to something other than sensitivity adjustment.

I've read a lot of bad stuff about the MX Rev, I think for all round PC/Game/ use the MX1000 is the best you get.

I could not use a Gaming mouse overall and was interested in the MX Rev when it launched.

Hopefully Logitech will do a new high end Mouse/KB kit again that's not Bluetooth and its about time to revamp the MX Rev as its getting on.

I've also read quite a bit and have also spoken to people about the Revolution, a lot of them say it's not really an upgrade to the MX1000, more of an equal or even a downgrade.

The mouse hasn't been designed for gaming in the slightest & apparently the wake-up time is pretty bad.

I think the G5 on about 1000DPI for me will be perfect for all round use.

I've had 2 MX Revolution mice and they are fine for gaming, I played several rounds of TF2 with them and managed to stay the same KD ratio wise as with the MX1000. The MX Rev is also lighter so better for rapid movements in FPS games. I had 2 previously because my wifi card would cause the mouse to skipw hen downloading at fast 20MB speeds so had to return them but since I'm now wired I have no gripes.

Got a Rev in replacement for my dead G7 :'(

Its a fantastic mouse for Windows, documents, internet etc etc. The free scroll is a great feature. its a little more slim or less bulky than the 1000. I still own my 1000 and prefer the rev over it.

However... Im buying a G5 for my gaming. I find the rev to big, heavy, not sensitive enough, laggy and the wheel sucks for games :)

So depends what you want it for. Ill be using the rev for general day to day life. and swapping to the g5 when playing games.

I bought the MX Revolution about a yr ago to upgrade to my mx1000. Upgrade my foot, more of a downgrade and within 2months of having the mx rev I went back to my mx1000 and sold the rev on the bay.
The mx1000:
1. feels nicer to used,
2. fits better in the hand
3. batt last much longer
4. wakes up faster
5. more responsive

So if the mx rev is a upgrade from the mx 1000, then pigs can fly:D
The only down side about going back to the mx 1000 is the wheel, cos you kind of get use to zipping down web pages

The MX Revolution is a great mouse, although because its a bit crap with games i use the G5 on my main rig and the MX with my lappy.

I have just been sent an MX Revolution as areplacement for my MX1000 and have been told that when it arrives I ahve to cut the USB plug of the current cble and send it back to Germany!

This is to close the case their end, as far as you're concerned the case is closed as the mouse has been replaced - they won't penalise you for not sending the plug because it could have just gotten "lost in the post" ;-)

I stated that this last request was a bit of a silly one when i got the email today asking me to fill out a support survey to say how I found support.
