Hi there,

I am having a problem recharging the mouse in the station provided.

I stick it in the charing station and it doesn't charge.

What am i doing wrong. Is it likely to be the charging station or the mouse?

Is this covered by logiech warrenty?

thanks.

How long have you had it? Did it ever charge? It could be that the prongs on the mouse or the charging station are not making good contact, sometimes a quick rub on the metal with some very fine wet n' dry paper can clean up the contacts enough for it to work. However I'd look into the warranty carefully before doing that just in case. :)

I sometime get this, take the batteries out for 10 mins then put them back in the mouse, usually does the trick for me!

I had similiar problems and realised it was the contacts between the two. a lot of placing and replacing solved my problem but yours mabye more terminal, since upgraded to a Mx518 wired mouse and its sooo much better

Yeah i tried that, thanks for the suggestion.

Why can't Logitech design a sensible method of charging a mouse?? The daft pads on the bottom are as much use as a chocolate tepot. What's wrong with a wee phone charger style socket that actually makes contact?

I have exactly the same problem with my MX1000, the contacts in the base have worn through the coating on the charging pads under the mouse so if the mouse is vertical on the stand it doesn't charge. I have to tip it slightly to one side and then it's OK.

Possible solution.

Probably a really dumb suggestion but I had a similar problem when I moved. The charger is plugged into your pc via USB, but you wont be able to charge the mouse unless you have the seperate AC adapter plugged in. It's quite easy to forget about this because your mouse works fine without that cable plugged in, it's only required to charge the mouse.

If this doesn't work it could be the contacts, my contacts have been wearing down quite a bit on my mx1000 and i have to fiddle with it each time to make sure its seated correctly. It's quite easy to see if its charging as the power lights go 1-12-123-repeat.

Yeah i know when its charging and i know you need the cable. I have already done the fidling bit and i think its past that stage. I tihnk it might be totally broken.

Is there anyway to see if the cradle is getting any electrictiy so i know itws not the plug.

They have sorted it with the G7, the swappable battery packs are great although they could do with having a slightly longer battery life. :)

Mine is the same, I reckon it gets a coating of sweat and skin grease etc from your hand as it rubs around the mouse mat. It makes the contacts a bit grubby. I clean mine up a treat with one of those wee fibreglass brushes.

Conrad I have a spare charging station for the MX1000. If you want it let me know. It is about 18 months old but still works fine.

Well mine is part of the MX3100 (keyboard and mouse set) and the keyboard connects to the cradel aswell.

E-mail or msn me at: ruudbarron [at] hotmail [dot] com

I think it might be the power cable that is broken. To confirm could someone do a check for me. Unplug the cradel from the actual computer but keep the power plug in and see if you see any lights on *** cradel (because i dont).

I have this mouse, and i also had a problem with my charger. Basically it had gotten a very slight knock and something inside the thing must have broken. And it happened in Christmas day while i was engrossed in a bit of Prince of Persia! I looked for a place to buy the charger with no luck so i bought a second mouse. Both mice charge in the new cradle and i must admit its nice not to have to remember to charge it and just switch mice when one runs down!! :D
