I'm planning to get a new wireless mouse for my Mac. Now I was looking at the Logitech Revolution MX. A friend of mine has it, and I'm really impressed (especially the scrolling mechanism that adapts its speed according to the amount of text in the active window). But he uses Windows as an OS.

I was reading some reviews about it, and there was a Mac user who complained that the mouse stops working when it's idle for a few minutes. That would be caused by the Logitech Software. But that review was written on July 2007. Are there any Mac users who also use the Revolution MX? Has the Logitech software been improved since 2007?

Now I'm also hearing about alternative programs for that mouse, like Steermouse. Does anyone use that program?

I've used one on my mac for two years with no issues whatsoever. The logi software used to be awful, but its now much better.

You will struggle to find a better mouse for the mac.

I use Steermouse on the Mac as Logitech didn't release any software for the MX610. Would recommend it if you want more custom options.

Can't say what the Mac software for the MX Revolution is like though.

I received it today, and it works very nice :)
The only problem that I noticed was the packaging. It was packed into plastic, and I had to hold the plastic around the mouse and then press on the Logitech Logo to pop it out. Unfortunately it didn't, so I had to use scissors. And as a result I caused visible scratches on the back of the mouse. So Logitech should use a much easier package...
